Accrington Wins Award!!
Accrington Eco Station has been constructed to the highest of standards using the latest in eco-friendly techniques and using recycled stone, has Photovoltaic cells for providing a percentage of the electricity needs, solar water heating and rain water harvesting for flushing toilets etc. The construction started in January 2010 during the coldest winter for 40 years and finished in August 2010. The project has been part funded by the European Union through the Interreg IVB programme. The building is owned by Lancashire County Council and is being leased by Northern Rail who operate the booking office.
Another Lancashire County Council project, Clitheroe Castle was Highly Commended in the Building Conservation category.
New Arrival At Accrington Station...Sheridan's Coffee Cart!!
The new venture, run by Neil Sheridan (pictured), is a welcome addition to the new eco-station. Neil will be serving hot and cold drinks as well as snacks to customers Mondays to Saturdays from 6.40am to 3pm.

Community rail partnership
East Lancashire Community Rail Partnership is a partnership venture between Lancashire County Council, local councils, Northern Rail and Network Rail to improve awareness and local rail travel in East Lancashire. Ribble Valley Rail
Was formed in 1986 to campaign for the restoration of passenger train services northwards from Blackburn in Lancashire towards Hellifield.
In May 1994, the then Regional Railways re-introduced a full passenger service as far as Clitheroe.
RVR is now the User Group for the Ribble Valley Line

East Lancashire Railway - Rawtenstall to Bury
Fancy a nostalgic trip behind a steam engine or preserved diesel? Then visit the East Lancashire Railway which runs from Rawtenstall to Bury.
Timetables for the East Lancashire Railway are now available at Accrington Ticket Office.
To get to Rawtenstall from Accrington, take the service 464 Rossendale Transport bus from Accrington bus station direct to Rawtenstall every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday during the day.
